Time For Term Limits?
We should not stop there, we need to set Term Limits for all of Congress and the Senate. I have been back and fourth with this issue. However, I’m at the age now where I’ve seen quite a bit from Washington, and there are these patterns, i.e. politician campaign promises that never manifest….and so much more that is not worth getting into here. Term limits will be as mid term elections are, our weapon of staying free and independent, combined, the American people will have most of the power. Harrison Colorado
In a rather interesting Reuters/Ipsos poll, the subject of Term Limits has reared its ugly head once again. Oh, no…it’s not the congress we’re talking about now. In light of the Gay Marriage and obamacare decisions, it’s the Supreme Court. And it begs the question whether or not any position in this country should be a life-time appointment.
Federal judgeships and the United States Supreme Court have always been lifetime appointments. It was felt in the early years that if you had to run for the office or you somehow had to face losing your job ever so often that you could be open to being partial and unfair. The way that was devised to get around that was to give you a lifetime appointment. That way you could fairly hear the cases you needed to hear without being swayed by the whims of the public or political opinion.
